grogginess...

today was my welcome to the world of afternoon sleep. last night i got very little sleep bcoz of mosquitos, hence i was sleepy all day. in the afternoon i was just lying around in bed, and fell asleep.
a little background history - i NEVER sleep in the afternoons. i have actualy never SLEPT in the afternoon. there were 2-3 odd days when i was either sick, or was up all night coz of a party or whatever...and id just abt manage to catch 10-min naps, but stay in bed with my eyes shut for 1.5 hrs. that was called afternoon sleep for me. today however, i actually fell asleep. i dint realise when...i woke up coz the phone rang. i dint know if it was morning, evening, night. whether it was the next day, whether id missed college or ANYTHING! it was pretty scary, really. i had a YUCKY taste in my mouth which did not go away by brushing my teeth. i could barely keep my eyes open, had a headache. ive never felt so disoriented in my life!
and ive decided that NEVER AGAIN will i bring upon me a situation where i have to sleep in the afternoon.

on other fronts - i have gotten myself an internship with Trilegal Bangalore. its a corporate law firm. i managed to get this internhsip through my college internship cell. i hope they do not grill me about my career interests - coz whatever they may be, corporate law aint 1 of them! but...courts are shut in may hence i figured may as well take a shot at corp life! after all...in the end of the day they are the ones who provide enough bread n butter to survive. unless of course, i set up my own law practise, work my ass off for very little money for 5-6 years, establish a name enough to charge ridiculous hourly rates like most big shot lawyers! none of which i plan to do, by the way!

finally, work is catching up to me. i have to do a dissertation for my NLS Diploma in IPR. i have chosen a topic, and done a fair amount of reading on it, but time has now come to get writing the article. there are modules to be read, home assginments to be completed. exams have to be written pune university style this time - with no bare acts. so...get to it!

day before yesterday i watched a Spanish play out up by the Dept of Spanish,
pune University Dept of Foreign languages. it was very well done. 2.5 hours long, all spanish students reciting flawless spanish dialogues with superb accents, etc! great iniative taken on their part. and of course, my friend Sayali Patwardhan did a marvelous job as "Clotilde"- a crazy middle aged woman!
and - i attended a jazz concert by Alain Brunet yesterday ie Wednesday, 27th Feb '08. it was organised by Alliance Francaise and Poona Music Society. alain was accompanied by a guitarist (who was hot!) and a percussionist/drummer who also handled the "laptop" - the newest addition to the array of musical instruments we have today! the trio were joined by Debi Prasad (if im not wrong) on the Sarod, and some1 on the tabla. so it was something of a fusion session. very interesting...the melange of mouth organ and tabla and guitar and sarod! a musical delight! and i was asked to felicitate one of the artists by putting a garland on him!

after a break of 5 months or so

i last posted stuff here after my trek to Valley of flowers.

its been a looong time since then. i finished Diplome in Alliance Francaise since then. and DELF B2. now its time to do some serious "what does my future look like?" thinking. planning. implementing! ha thats the key.
here is what i want to do - work on environmental law and policy. maybe do an LLM in the same. however - this kind of work is not lucrative. corporate law is. that doesnt interest me.

college has taken it upon itself to provide "quality" candidates for placements this time. imposing "footprints" on us in 4th year. that consumed a lot of time this 8th semester. footprints was basically a course which taught us stuff like communication skills, time management, team building etc etc - the management garb! we had classes on weekends for 6 hours a day. 12 hrs per weekend. cant say they were a total waste. i did get to know people in my college for the first time in 4 years! actually felt like a was IN college! had a little fun on the days when we had to dance n put up ridiculous skits etc etc...

dipti's sister got married...that was fun! suyog is getting married this weekend and i cant go for his wedding - placement cell lectures. makes me wonder whether i REALLY want to go through them in college. will i really get a job i want through college? better yet - will i get ANY job through college?? questions questions - with no answers!
