wonder la!!

Last friday, the 4th of july, 2008, i finally went to what can actually be called an amusement park (granted, a little late in life!) - Wonder La! it is located on Mysore Road. all one has to do is to take BMTC bus number 226C for a direct ride from KR Market to Wonder La. other 226 buses go upto the main road, and then i believe a wonder la shuttle is available from main road inside.

we (govind and i) reached there at around 11.30 AM. the plan was to only cover the dry park. on weekdays just the dry park was rs. 300, while with water park was almost Rs. 500. both cost around 100 more on weekends.

we first went on the giant wheel which was on top of a 13 storey high building. while that offered a great view, it turns slowly, and isnt really much fun, except for the view. the balcony up there offers a great view of the park, and it was there that we decided which rides we wanted to do once we climbed down!

Dropzone is really good! they raise the seats high up, then drop you at free fall without u kowing when. so you rise a little, then drop down! rise again, drop again! the suspense is what makes it fun! free fall is scary... screaming helps!

Insanity, mixer and Y-scream are the scariest rides ive ever seen...we did not go for them and i dont think i ever will! one ride called "hang glide" was good fun! it was basically a cable car ride, but in an open air car. Wonder splash is the only wet ride in the dry park section. you sit in a cart which climbs an incline, comes down the same slope (almost 45 degrees and at free fall!) right into a pool of water, so there is a great SPLASH and you are drenched! this was the best ride!

there was a ghost house, a mini roller coaster inside a huge anthill, dashing cars, and the Wonder La Bamba.
the water park was pretty amazing, and i did get to look around even though we dint go for those rides. water pendulum looks like the best one there. loads of slides which turn round and round, and end up in a pool. the wave pool is pretty good too...very well simulated beach!

the place, being so far and all, is very spacious, well paved with greenery everywhere.
the restaurants are hygienic, food and beverages are available at reasonable rates, all packed stuff is sold at MRP, lockers can be used for bags etc. even wonder la t-shirts are hugely popluar at just 100 bucks or so, considering you're gonna get drenched n all!

all in all, it was an awesome experience!
i definitely give it a thumbs up! and i dont think 500 bucks is too much to spend (i know it sounds like a lot) for a fun filled day with awesome rides and swimming. especially since that fee covers unlimited rides, everything except food and locker charges.

remember, if tickets are too cheap, you cannot control the kind of crowd that will come.
